That is why it is important to speak to a number of builders, and when we say this we mean fully licenced builders. There are some unqualified, unlicensed operators out there, and these people must be avoided despite the offer of what seems to be the bargain of the century in lower prices. For example, how good is the work done by someone not qualified? What sort of guarantee do you have if you have zero guarantees? Will the “builder” come back if he or she is not obliged to do so?

You need to meet up with a number of licenced builders, get quotes, and try out sort out the wheat from the chaff. Some builders only do a job if the price goes through the roof. Others, desperate creatures will give you a low enough price to win, and then regret every day that they had to drive one and a half hours morning, noon, and night.

It is all a matter of balance.

Yes, we know, and you have heard it all before. Then why do people make a mistake and choose the wrong construction company?

On the other hand, we cannot overlook the issue of specification. This comes down to you doing your own homework, finding a builder who understands you, and hopefully discovering that the builder’s own experience and education assist you in choosing the right item every time.

Attention to detail will assist in quality.

Strong supervision, with a willingness to redo something if it is not right.

There is much to be said about quality, while not much can be said about a rather ordinary project finished in less than fine style, but instead a dismal failure that was purchased due to a low, and rather ordinary discount.

The right price and the right job will go a long way.
