Period Homes – 我们说中文
Period Homes. We extend and/or renovate Period Homes, meaning a particular period in time or a style of construction that accords with the period.
We won't be talking too much about the various types of Period Home as found in Great Britain or America, or even elsewhere in Australia. We will focus on Victoria.
However, one must remember that both Tasmania and New South Wales had quite a big start on Victoria, like in the vicinity of 50 years (Sydney).
The first home (Period Homes) in Victoria was not authorized. A whaling station in Portland eventually became the town. Homes were built, thus starting the Old Colonial Period in the District of Victoria.
OLD COLONIAL PERIOD. 1788 -1840 - 4 STYLES.
We have to appreciate that, generally speaking, the OLD COLONIAL STYLE began in 1788.
As far as Australia is concerned this beginning occurred in the Colony of N.S.W.
"Elizabeth Farm," Parramatta, is the oldest home in Australia. We see the simplicity and beauty of Old Colonial Georgian.
Getting back to Victoria, the first house built in what was then the Victoria District of the Colony of N.S.W., was erected in Portland in the year 1834 CIRCA .
